United Way of the Ozarks Celebrates and Honors 2010

March 9, 2011(Springfield, MO)…United Way of the Ozarks celebrated the successes of 2010 and elected their board of directors at their Annual Meeting and Recognition event, Wednesday, March 9 at the University Plaza Hotel.

With over 350 in attendance, Dr Norm Ridder, 2010 Board Chair reviewed the highlights of the year which included:


Nadia and Howard Cavner, with daughter Maral Cavner, presents a gift to FLiP for sponsorship of a school through the Ozarks Food Harvest Backpack program. "It's been a very busy and very productive year for United Way of the Ozarks. We have really worked to fulfill United Way's mission, to understand the health and human service needs of our community and work to mobilize resources, so we can meet those needs," comment's Dr Ridder.

Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce

Tim Rosenbury, the 2010 Chamber Board chair offered a few remarks how the Chamber began the push to shape our community's economic success through advocacy and engagement, through taking a look at issues such as lack of diversity and a growing culture of poverty that threaten future prosperity for our community.

Amy Pinegar and Aleah Woodmansee, mother and daughter, shared how United Way funded agency programs helped shape their lives and put them on a successful path. Amy is employed by MedPay of Springfield and Aleah was the 2010 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year.

United Way of the Ozarks is a locally governed, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to increase the understanding of human needs and mobilize resources to meet those needs.

United Way of the Ozarks funds over 40 programs and initiatives that address critical health and human service needs in a 14 county area.
