United Way of the Ozarks Celebrates and Honors 2010
March 9, 2011(Springfield, MO)…United Way of the Ozarks celebrated the successes of 2010 and elected their board of directors at their Annual Meeting and Recognition event, Wednesday, March 9 at the University Plaza Hotel.
With over 350 in attendance, Dr Norm Ridder, 2010 Board Chair reviewed the highlights of the year which included:
- A successful 2010 campaign with pledges totaling $3,483,000, which represented 99.87% of the goal
- Allocations throughout 2010 that totaled $3,080,753
- 2010 Day of Caring that had over 1800 volunteers in August
- Hands on for Seniors, a community impact initiative that completed 113 home maintenance and repair projects for 74 seniors
- Female Leaders in Philanthropy continues to impact the lives of women and children through Suit Yourself and the Ozarks Food Harvest Backpack program
- Established United Way campaign effort in Stone & Taney Counties

"It's been a very busy and very productive year for United Way of the Ozarks. We have really worked to fulfill United Way's mission, to understand the health and human service needs of our community and work to mobilize resources, so we can meet those needs," comment's Dr Ridder.

Maurice Henry, Senior Vice President, Associated Wholesale Grocers, United Way Vice Chair along with Jennifer Kennally, United Way President/CEO, announced the 2010 major campaign recognitions that included:
- The Circle of Caring: this recognition is presented to those companies, organizations and partner agencies with at least 50% employee participation and at least $150 per capita gift. 23 organizations were recognized.
- The John C Rush Award: this recognition is present to those companies, organizations and partner agencies with a 15% or more increase in employee contribution to United Way. 43 organizations were recognized.
- The Pillar Awards: this recognition is bestowed to a company, organization or agency that represents the highest benchmarks in creating and sustaining a United Way culture within their group. Those recognized with a 2010 Pillar Award were:

Tim Rosenbury, the 2010 Chamber Board chair offered a few remarks how the Chamber began the push to shape our community's economic success through advocacy and engagement, through taking a look at issues such as lack of diversity and a growing culture of poverty that threaten future prosperity for our community.
Amy Pinegar and Aleah Woodmansee, mother and daughter, shared how United Way funded agency programs helped shape their lives and put them on a successful path. Amy is employed by MedPay of Springfield and Aleah was the 2010 Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year.
United Way of the Ozarks is a locally governed, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to increase the understanding of human needs and mobilize resources to meet those needs.
United Way of the Ozarks funds over 40 programs and initiatives that address critical health and human service needs in a 14 county area.
