Community Unites for United Way Day of Caring
June 2, 2008
Volunteering...giving back...philanthropy. These are essential in a well-balanced community, and this is the philosophy behind United Way Day of Caring. Scheduled for Thursday, August 14, this event will have volunteers from the Ozarks area donating their time and learning about the services United Way agencies provide to the community.
With the economy showing 5% inflation, gas prices skyrocketing, unemployment rates hovering around 5% and the weekly average wage dropping, more people are struggling and seeking help in the Springfield area. People who have not had to seek assistance before are now struggling, and volunteers for United Way Day of Caring will likely see the intensified need for the agencies since it may be striking a little closer to home.
Volunteers are still needed to fulfill the 123 projects at the member agencies. Click here to sign up, view the projects or learn more.
United Way of the Ozarks provides funding to its member agencies which offer a variety of human services to improve the lives of people in the community. United Way also provides grants to regional non-profit organizations and sponsors community coalitions to improve the quality of life throughout the Ozarks.
