United Way of the Ozarks announced Associated Wholesale Grocers as the 2008 Corporate Humanitarian of the Year. This is the highest honor the United Way of the Ozarks can bestow on a company and its employees. This award was developed in 1999 to pay tribute to a company that exemplifies the highest standards of leadership, innovation, compassion, and community service. The criteria for the award includes: Commitment to posterity; outstanding corporate responsibility to the community and the well-being of its people; innovation in the field of corporate philanthropy; leadership in corporate and employee charitable giving; inclusion of employees in the philanthropic process.
