Ozarks Spirit
At holiday time, Boys & Girls Town works with generous organizations and individuals to provide gifts for the children in their care. With close to 400 children in treatment programs and foster care partnerships, many gifts are needed.
Erin Burbee, advancement coordinator at Boys & Girls Town, shared the need with some of the staff at United Way of the Ozarks and they decided to forgo their usual holiday luncheon to "adopt" some needy kids instead.
For this year's holiday luncheon, they all brought food and held a potluck. Then, they adopted seven children from the foster care program and brought them presents.
Debbie Adkins and Steve Kessler shopped for the kids. Other United Way staff members involved in the adoption good deed include: Latrisha Beeman, Susan Boyd, Ann Dare, Cindy Elliot, Sherry Lupton and John Rush.
