Joplin Disaster Relief...How you can help
May 23, 2011(Springfield, MO)...Plans are underway to mobilize volunteer efforts and create disaster relief funding for the citizens of Joplin in the wake of the tornado that destroyed a large portion of Joplin yesterday.
Due to the volume of calls to 2-1-1 inquiring about volunteer opportunities for the Joplin area, 2-1-1 Missouri call center has asked that those interested in volunteering, visit their website www.211missouri.org and sign up online.
Currently we are waiting to hear plans from the American Red Cross - Greater Ozarks Chapter regarding mobilizing volunteer efforts. As soon as we have confirmation on how and where to volunteer we will release that information.
If you would like to help with a monetary donation, please send your checks to United Way of the Ozarks, 320 N Jefferson, Springfield, MO 65806, marked JOPLIN TORNADO DISASTER RELIEF and all funds received will be distributed to the United Way of Southwest Missouri (Joplin).
