It's the largest, single-day volunteer event in our community.

The largest day of volunteerism in southwest Missouri is approaching. It's the United Way Day of Caring, scheduled for August 20, 2009. This event grows in numbers of projects, volunteers and lives touched each year, and you can be part of it this year too!

What is United Way Day of Caring?

The Day of Caring provides a way for businesses and organizations to build camaraderie and goodwill among employees while helping the community.

Here's how it works: Businesses/organizations make a commitment to offer its employees the opportunity to "step away from their desks" to provide hands-on, volunteer labor for a variety of United Way of the Ozarks' member agencies.

Projects/tasks include everything from painting houses to mentoring children. It's a win-win for everyone. Volunteers have the opportunity to experience the joy of doing something for others and area non-profit agencies receive invaluable volunteer assistance to complete projects that might otherwise not get done. PLUS – each volunteer receives an exclusively designed Day of Caring t-shirt and an invitation to attend the Day of Caring Kick-Off Breakfast.
